Privacy Policy
Our Commitment
Bridgeboard is built for students. Our mission is to help community college students find the right university and make informed decisions about their future. Bridgeboard complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Illinois Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA). Specifically: we do not use student data for targeted advertising or to build profiles for non-educational purposes; we do not share personally identifiable information with third parties without explicit student consent; and we delete student data upon account termination. The platform is operated solely for educational purposes — to help students make informed transfer decisions. Students have full control over their information at all times.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account, including your name, email address, academic history, GPA, completed credits, courses, extracurricular activities, and transfer goals. If you choose to provide your household income range, that information is used solely to estimate financial aid eligibility and is never shared without your consent.
Children's Privacy
Bridgeboard is intended for students who are at least 13 years old. If we discover a user is under 13 years of age, we will immediately delete their account and all associated data.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to generate your personalized transfer match, calculate your profile score, show you estimated financial aid, and help you track your application progress. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.
University Partnerships & Data Sharing
Bridgeboard may share limited, anonymized academic data (such as GPA range, completed credits, and area of academic interest) with participating universities to facilitate transfer opportunities. Universities never receive your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information without your explicit action. If a university identifies your anonymous profile as a strong match, you may receive an invitation in your dashboard. You are never required to respond, and your personal information is only shared if you choose to accept.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud infrastructure provider. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your personal information is restricted and protected by authentication controls. We are committed to maintaining reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data at all times. You may access and review all information stored in your profile, edit or update your personal and academic information from your profile settings, and permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time. To exercise any of these rights or if you have questions about your data, contact us at jjcastroinfo@gmail.com.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal information is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregate data that cannot be linked back to any individual may be retained for product improvement purposes.
Cookies
Bridgeboard uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and improve your experience. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function properly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the platform.
Governing Law
These policies are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes arising from the use of this platform will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Illinois.
