Privacy Policy
Bridgeboard is designed for public exploration. Creating an account is optional and only adds saved options, simple status tracking, and private notes.
What this policy covers
This policy explains how Bridgeboard handles information when you explore public university information, create an optional account, save and organize universities, submit feedback, or request account deletion.
Using Bridgeboard without an account
The university directory, university profiles, comparison tools, scholarship listings, transfer resources, and official-source links are public. You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to use these features.
Information we collect
If you create an account, we collect your email address, password verifier, session information, and an optional name. We store the universities you save, their order and status, and any notes you choose to write. We may also process feedback, account-deletion requests, and limited security or audit events needed to operate and protect the service.
Information we do not ask for
Bridgeboard does not ask for GPA, transcripts, course history, completed credits, household income, FAFSA status, race or ethnicity, date of birth, immigration status, disability information, essays, recommendations, or other academic-profile information. Do not place sensitive personal information in free-form notes.
How we use information
We use account information to authenticate you and synchronize saved options, statuses, and notes across devices. We use operational information to respond to requests, maintain security, diagnose errors, measure performance, and improve the service. We do not sell personal information or use account content for targeted advertising.
Previously available pilot features
Earlier versions included optional advisor-collaboration tools. Those features are not available in the current product and no new advisor connections or collaboration records are created through the public interface. Records created during an earlier pilot may remain protected in storage until they are deleted under the applicable retention process or an account-deletion request.
Service providers
Bridgeboard uses service providers for authentication, database and site hosting, service email, analytics, performance measurement, and error monitoring. They may process account or technical information only as needed to provide those services on our behalf, subject to their own security and privacy commitments.
Browser storage and operational data
Bridgeboard uses browser storage to keep you signed in, remember interface preferences, and remember when you dismiss the beta notice. We also collect limited device, browser, page, request, performance, and error information to understand reliability and fix problems. Error-monitoring tools are configured to mask text and form entries and block media.
Security
We use access controls, row-level database policies, authenticated sessions, and other reasonable safeguards designed to limit unauthorized access. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password private and contact us if you believe an account has been misused.
Your choices
You may change your optional name, reset your password, remove saved universities and notes, or request account deletion from Profile & account. Deletion requests are reviewed and processed manually; submitting a request does not immediately remove or sign you out of the account. You may also email privacy@bridgeboard.app.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and saved-work information while an account is active or as needed to provide the service. We aim to complete verified account-deletion requests within 30 days. Limited security, fraud-prevention, backup, consent, or dispute records may remain for a reasonable period when needed for system integrity or legal obligations.
Children’s privacy
Bridgeboard is not directed to children under 13. Students ages 13 through 17 may use the service with permission from a parent or legal guardian where required. We do not ask users to submit a date of birth. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without required authorization, we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Educational records and institutions
Bridgeboard is a student-directed public information and planning service. It does not claim that every use makes Bridgeboard a school official or that the service is categorically certified under every education-privacy law. A school or district considering an institutional use should complete its own legal, privacy, security, and contracting review.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will revise the date shown here and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how personal information is handled.
